SOUND THEATRE COMPANY presents highly theatrical work inspired by language and music while showcasing professional and emerging talent in the Seattle area.

Dear Friend and Patron,

In 2006, you were on the beach with Miranda in The Tempest as she cried out to the shipwrecked souls clinging to fragments of their shattered vessel in the water.  Since then you have survived a sandstorm in a post-apocalyptic landscape, you sat among classical ruins in a military hangar laughing sardonically alongside Shakespeare at the absurdity of war– you even sampled black cake during an intimate visit with Emily Dickinson in her parlor!  Transporting you, our audience, to real and imagined worlds rich with language and music has been the center of our mission for five years at Sound Theatre Company. We hope you will join us now on a journey to launch the next phase of our work as a company and consider an end of year donation towards our first fundraising campaign.  STC has had an exciting few years:  we have grown a loyal audience selling out frequently and gaining critical acclaim for our well-acted and boldly inventive productions.

But the time has come for us to set sail on our next path to create a more stable source of funding thereby assuring future productions and long term planning. While we are proud our work has been increasingly funded through ticket sales, still most of our support has come from the generous volunteer, in-kind and out-of-pocket support from the artists themselves.  We are currently looking forward to many future projects including our summer 2011 production of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion.  These are large scale ambitious projects for which we will want to maintain high quality production values and honor the professional skills of our company.

We would like to invite you to partner with us as we begin the next five years of STC!  We have established a fundraising goal of $15,000 to assure that we can continue with our upcoming productions. Your donation of any amount can help us lay this foundation for the future.

It’s been five years since we stepped cautiously into the waters for that first production of The Tempest in the Lake; well, we have tested the waters and they are fine!!  Join us as we dive into the deep together to discover new worlds to explore for Sound Theatre Company, and you, in the future.

Sincerely,

Teresa Thuman
